Following the failure of the Iranian regime and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC<\/a>) to respond in the case of firing on a Ukrainian passenger jet and following a complaint by the families of the victims, a Canadian court condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s top officials<\/a> on May 20, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court called the IRGC\u2019s action \u201cterrorist and deliberate\u201d and identified the IRGC<\/a>, the Iranian regime\u2019s armed forces, and its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei<\/a> as the defendants in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Complaints of the victims\u2019 families<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The complaint of the families of the victims<\/a> of the Ukrainian plane stated that the Iranian regime committed a terrorist act by shooting down the Ukrainian Airplane, under the Canadian Counter-Terrorism Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court issued its verdict after five months of hearing. The Canadian court ruling has challenged the Iranian regime\u2019s claims, which tried to downplay the issue and portray the entire incident as the result of a \u201chuman error\u201d and avoid scrutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian regime\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately and with confusion tried to reject the Canadian court ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesman for the regime\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a hasty statement that \u201cthe Canadian court has no jurisdiction to rule about the plane crash or [the reigme\u2019s] possible negligence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Combining terms such as \u201cplane crash\u201d and \u201cpossible negligence\u201d, shows once again that more than 17 months after the crime, Iranian mullahs are still seeking to escape accountability for the killing of 176 innocent people on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After five months of investigation and based on documents, when the court ruled that the shooting down of the Ukrainian plane was act of terrorism and deliberate, the regime, in an official statement tried to downplay its crime. It also challenged the Ontario court\u2019s ruling, which is not surprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only option against the terrorist regime of Iran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian regime\u2019s chain of action and its continuation presents only one option to the relevant countries and the international community. This option is none other than adopting a firm policy and holding the regime to account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lack of decisive action emboldens the regime to expand its terrorist activities across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an example, an Iranian terrorist-diplomat; Assadollah Assadi<\/a>, the third secretary of the regime\u2019s embassy in Vienna, who tried to bomb the opposition rally in France in 2018, was sentenced in a Belgian court to 20 years in prison based on irrefutable evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, after the Ontario Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that the Revolutionary Guards act was terrorism <\/a>based on irrefutable evidence, it requires the European Union and Canada, and the United States, to blacklist and sanction the Revolutionary Guards for terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suppose the international community and the relevant countries adopt such a firm policy against the terrorists in power in Iran. In that case, Khamenei, and the terrorist IRGC will be much more limited in pursuing their destructive schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a> the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI<\/a>) said: \u201cMindful of the never-ending grief of the victims\u2019 families, as the first step towards justice, the ruling is cause for congratulations. Like the Iranian people, the world is becoming a bit more familiar with the anti-human nature and conduct of the clerical regime and the IRGC<\/a>. I urge Canada and the European Union to designate the IRGC as a terrorist entity immediately\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
