Four female political prisoners jailed in the Qarchak prison, which is notorious for its extremely inhumane conditions, sent out an open letter condemning the Iranian regime\u2019s sham electio<\/a>n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women political prisoners wrote in the letter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe 13th round of presidential election is yet another worn-out show with actors hiding behind masks of deceits and lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the eve of the fall of the dictatorship, each of these actors in this political game argues with each other with scandalous figures for power and greed for their interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among these actors is a familiar name. In recent years, many efforts to whitewash his black name, but he could not conceal his bloody and criminal record. He had a significant role in the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Judiciary Chief<\/a>, he described Qarchak as \u201cthe best prison.\u201d This is while the conditions in this prison are horrible, including lack of hygiene, insufficient food quota, lack of primary health care, low quality and quantity of food, etc. Narcotic drugs are abundant, and inmates have various skin diseases. There is no sufficient space for serving one\u2019s prison term. Inmates have abnormal and immoral behavior due to a lack of social and ethical psychotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the time has come to repeat the lies of the hand-picked candidates, how could one expect those who did not do anything to improve prison conditions for a long time to improve the circumstances in a country?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According <\/a>to the official website of the Women\u2019s Committee<\/a> of the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI<\/a>), the conditions of these political prisoners are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zahra Safaei, Marzieh Farsi, Parastoo Mo\u2019ini, and Forough Taghipour are detained for supporting the opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zahra Safaei and her daughter, Parastoo Mo\u2019ini, have been\u00a0sentenced to eight and six years<\/a>\u00a0in prison, respectively. Forough Taghipour has been sentenced to\u00a0five years in prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their detention in Qarchak Prison among common criminals violates the principle of separation of crimes in prisons.
