Friday, August 20, 202<\/strong>1 \u2014 At 0915 a.m. CEST, the fifth session of the trial of the executioner Hamid Noury<\/a> began in Stockholm, Sweden. As in previous hearings, the MEK <\/a>supporters gathered in front of the court in Stockholm. At the fifth hearing, the plaintiffs\u2019 attorneys present their views on the indictment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/iframe>\n\n\n\nNoury is being tried for his role in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/story-of-1988-massacre-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">30,000 political prisoners<\/a>\u00a0in Iran, mostly members and supporters of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/-a-primer-on-iran-s-mek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEK<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAt this meeting, the Mullahs\u2019regime\u2019s lawyers are scheduled to respond to the prosecutor\u2019s indictment. Kenneth Lewis, one of the plaintiffs\u2019 lawyers, said: \u201cOn June 20, 1981, the regime suppressed the peaceful demonstrations of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/primer-the-history-the-peoples-mojahedin-organization-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEK<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nReferring to the words of the regime leaders and their actions, Kenneth Lewis said: \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/story-of-1988-massacre-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a> is a clear example of genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nKenneth Lewis, citing international treaties: There is no doubt that what happened in 1988 was genocide. The plaintiffs\u2019 attorney also cited the views of prominent experts such as Professors Eric David and Jeffrey Robertson.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn the morning session, the executioner Noury\u2019s lawyer also said some points in response to the indictment. The afternoon session of the court was also dedicated to the words of the Noury\u2019s lawyer. The trial ended at 4:20 p.m. CEST.
