Summer of 1988<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/iframe>\n\n\n\n Thousands of bright Iranian youths were hanged in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a> of political prisoners. At least 30,000 across Iran. Many families lost fathers, sons, daughters, mothers. And in many cases, the entire family was eliminated. In 231 words, he wasted a generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/perpetrators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Death Commissions<\/a> were formed shortly after to implement this fatwa; There were at least 35 commissions across Iran. By asking a question, they decided the fate of prisoners: \u201cDo You still support the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mujahedin-e Khalq(MEK)<\/a>?\u201d A simple answer of yes was enough for them to send the person to the gallows. Years after the <a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>, the Death Commissions\u2019 members enjoy systematic impunity. Some of them continue to hold senior key positions in the regime. These officials form 63% of the total number of criminals who are still alive. This list includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-ebrahim-raisi-a-mass-murderer-for-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ebrahim Raisi<\/a>, the regime\u2019s new president, <a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/mostafa-pour-mohammadi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mostafa Pourmohammadi<\/a>, the former Justice Minister, and <a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/seyyed-alireza-avaei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alireza Avai<\/a>, the current Justice Minister. This systematic impunity should end.
