Candice Bergen, Canadian MP, addressed at the\u00a02nd Day of The Free Iran World Summit on\u00a0July 11, 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/iframe>\n\n\n\nFreedom, democracy, gender equality, the separation of religion, and government. These are basic fundamental rights and desires of every human being, but it is the desire of those living in Iran. <\/p>\n\n\n\nHi, everyone. I\u2019m Candice Bergen. I\u2019m the deputy leader of Canada\u2019s Conservative Party. And I\u2019m here to lend our support to the great movements for freedom in Iran. <\/p>\n\n\n\nCanada\u2019s conservatives support your desire and the work that you\u2019re doing. In fact, we have put forward a motion in the parliament in Canada to designate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/inside-irans-army-of-terror-and-oppression-revolutionary-guards-irgc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRGC <\/a>as a terrorist entity. <\/p>\n\n\n\nWe also at when we were in government, shut down the embassy, the Iranian embassy, these are concrete actions to support freedom in Iran. The people of Iran have had enough of this regime. Only 10% of Iranians showed up for this <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/06\/25\/iranians-show-hatred-of-regime-during-election-boycott-and-state-media-warns-of-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">so-called election<\/a>, which put in power one of the most horrific and violent men that even <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/08\/07\/amnesty-international-crimes-against-humanity-loom-large-over-ebrahim-raisis-inauguration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amnesty International<\/a> has described as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-ebrahim-raisi-a-mass-murderer-for-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">butcher<\/a>. I\u2019m here to tell you that the people of Iran deserve freedom. <\/p>\n\n\n\nThey deserve equality, they deserve opportunity. And that horrible regime in Iran needs to be taken down. And so, we support you. We are so happy to be part of the<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/freeiran-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Free Iran Conference 2021<\/a>, and we look forward to hopefully all being together in the very near future.
