Iran\u2019s economy is on freefall. But why Iran\u2019s economy, with such vast resources, is declining? Is it due to the sanctions? Or the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption?<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) reported on September 23<\/a> that Iran\u2019s economy is currently on a freefall decline, but the question remains as to whether the Iranian regime\u2019s corruption or international sanctions are to blame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Setareh Sobh daily, latest updates from the World Bank data suggest that Iran\u2019s GDP has reduced by 57% from $545 billion in 2017, to a mere $191 billion in 2020. As a result, Iran\u2019s GDP global ranking drops them from 26th<\/sup> place to the 50th<\/sup> in the space of 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NCRI said<\/a>, \u201cIran\u2019s GDP has decreased while its liquidity is rising rapidly. The main reason for Iran\u2019s liquidity growth is the regime\u2019s banknote printing. As a result, Iran\u2019s inflation rate and prices of consumer goods are skyrocketing daily.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
