October 11 marks the United Nations\u2019 International Day of the Girl Child<\/a>, the day of observation is used to raise awareness of gender inequality and provide more opportunities for young girls around the world. At the same time, young girls in Iran are the ones most at victim from the Iranian regime\u2019s misogynistic ideologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of this year\u2019s day of observation is \u2018Digital Generation, Our Generation\u2019 and is focused on addressing the needs of girls throughout the pandemic. Iranian girls have struggled immensely, especially when it has come to education. As many classes were moved online during the pandemic, many young girls in Iran were deprived of access to computers, tablets and smartphones, as well as access to the internet, leaving hundreds of thousands unable to participate in their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Women Committee<\/a> said, \u201cThe global occasion can reflect the successful emergence of girls and young women as part of society. But unfortunately, under the rule of a misogynist regime, most news about the Iranian girl child concerns violence, suicide, and forced child marriages\u2014other news concerns deprivations from education, healthy nutrition, and medical care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The extreme poverty <\/a>in Iran, especially in the past year, has led to an increase in the numbers of girls who have had to drop out of school or be forced into child marriages<\/a>. Even at the young age of 13 and 14, many girls have turned to prostitution to earn money for their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
