Gilbert Mitterrand, President of the French Human Rights organization Foundation France Libertes, MEP (2009-2019), addressed at the\u00a02nd Day of The Free Iran World Summit on\u00a0July 12, 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/iframe>\n\n\n\nThe election of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-ebrahim-raisi-a-mass-murderer-for-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Raisi <\/a>reveals the true tragic nature of the Iranian regime. It is a true insult to the memory of the 1<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">988 massacre<\/a> victims and an insult to their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThis election is also an admission of the regime that is in place only through terror. It is also a challenge to international diplomacy and France in particular. It is a challenge that shows the Iranian regime who will always stand against human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWe need to spell out our request or demands. The alternative is necessary and is always possible. It is possible because democracy is born from the people, not the regime. Raisi\u2019s presidency is proof that this regime won\u2019t be democratic.<\/p>\n\n\n\nA path for democratic Iran exists. It is symbolized in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/tomorrow-s-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> ten-point plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSilence at this moment, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-call-on-international-community-to-prosecute-ebrahim-raisi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Raisi <\/a>as the regime\u2019s president, is unacceptable. It is time for the international community to realize and demand change in Iran. How can international institutions remain silent?
