Last month, the Supreme Leader of the Iranian regime Ali Khamenei<\/a> gave a speech to regime officials indicating that security against the \u2018hard threat of the enemies\u2019 and the \u2018enemies within\u2019 Iranian society is the regime\u2019s most important issue. As the two-year anniversary of Iran\u2019s 2019 uprising approaches, the regime is even more concerned that the current protests will escalate to the same level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even Iran\u2019s state media are echoing the regime\u2019s fears, with the Aftab-e Yazd outlet warning at the end of October that \u2018millions will have nothing to lose and will resort to violence\u2019, in response to the increasingly restive society who are protesting for their rights amidst Iran\u2019s worst economic crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a> (NCRI) said<\/a>, \u201cThe November 2019 uprising <\/a>encompassed nearly 200 Iranian cities and towns and featured stark anti-government slogans such as \u2018death to the dictator\u2019 as well as statements rejecting both the \u2018hardline\u2019 and \u2018reformist\u2019 factions of the regime\u2019s political structure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
