^{Fifth Day of the Trial of Hamid Noury, the Executioner of the 1988 Massacre, at the Durr\u00ebs Court in Albania \u2014 November 16, 2021<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nCoinciding With the 39th Court Hearing in Albania, Freedom-Loving Iranians, Supporters of the MEK in Sweden, Staged a Rally in Front of Stockholm Court<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday, November 16, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 The fifth session of the trial of the\u00a0executioner<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/?s=Hamid+Noury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Hamid Noury<\/a>, began in the city of Durr\u00ebs, Albania, with the presence of the plaintiffs and witnesses, members of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PMOI\/MEK<\/a>), residents of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/tag\/ashraf-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ashraf 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, November 16, the trial of the executioner Hamid Noury held for the fifth consecutive session in Durr\u00ebs, Albania. In this session, <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEK <\/a>member Mahmoud Royaei testified as a plaintiff against Noury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trial of Hamid Noury, one of the executioners of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>, took place in three days 10-12 November of the last week, and it continues this week on Monday through Thursday, November 15-18, 2021, in Durr\u00ebs Court, Albania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the 39th trial session of the henchman Hamid Noury one of the executioners of 30,000 political prisoners in the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/story-of-1988-massacre-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a> in Iran\u2019s regime prisons across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the previous days, the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEK <\/a>members and former political prisoners <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/10\/trial-of-hamid-noury-the-executioner-of-the1988-massacre-at-the-durres-court-in-albania-november-10-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mohammad Zand<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/11\/second-day-of-the-trial-of-hamid-noury-the-executioner-of-the-1988-massacre-at-the-durres-court-in-albania-november-11-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Majid Sahib Jam<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/12\/third-session-of-the-trial-of-hamid-noury-the-executioner-of-the-1988-massacre-at-the-durres-court-in-albania-november-12-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asghar Mehdizadeh<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/15\/fourth-day-of-the-trial-of-hamid-noury-the-executioner-of-the-1988-massacre-at-the-durres-court-in-albania-november-15-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Akbar Samadi<\/a> appeared in court as plaintiffs and testified about the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/1988-massacre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a> of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison and the role of the executioner Hamid Noury in the massacre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 8 am on November 16, 2021, the hearing of the testimony of MEK member <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/16\/the-1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran-eyewitness-accounts-mahmoud-royaei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mahmoud Royaei <\/a>began in the court of the executioner Hamid Noury, in Durr\u00ebs, Albania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Royaei, arrested in 1981 at the age of 18, has described the crimes Iran\u2019s regime committed against political prisoners in a series of five books. His writing also includes the role Hamid Noury played in the 1988 massacre as one of the senior prison guards in Gohardasht prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Royaei\u2019s testimony indicates Iran\u2019s 1988 massacre was years in the making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the hearing, the prosecutor summarized the story of Mahmoud Royaei\u2019s 10 years in prison. After this summary, the prosecutor started asking questions of Mahmoud Royaei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his testimony, <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/2021\/11\/16\/the-1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran-eyewitness-accounts-mahmoud-royaei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mahmoud Royaei<\/a>, a former political prisoner who spent 10 years in Iran\u2019s prisons, described on the atrocities that took place in the regime\u2019s horrific prisons. During Iran\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/1988-massacre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>, Royaei was in Gohardasht prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Mahmoud-Royaei-with-other-plaintiffs-entering-Durres-Court-in-Albania-%E2%80%94-Nov-16-2021.jpg\" alt=\"Mahmoud Royaei with other plaintiffs entering Durr\u00ebs Court in Albania \u2014 Nov 16, 2021\" class=\"wp-image-28897\" onerror=\"this.src='https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/themes\/hello-elementor\/images\/broken-image-placeholder.gif';this.srcset='https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/themes\/hello-elementor\/images\/broken-image-placeholder.gif';\"><figcaption><em><sup>Mahmoud Royaei with other plaintiffs entering Durr\u00ebs Court in Albania \u2014 Nov 16, 2021<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter thanking the judge, the prosecutors, as well as the team of lawyers who traveled to Albania to find out the truth, Mahmoud Royaei said: As you know, 21 years before Hamid Noury\u2019s arrest, I revealed Hamid Noury\u2019s role in the corridor of death in an interview. I saw Hamid Noury before, during and after the \u201cdeath courts\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn March 1988, a group of prisoners were brought from Kermanshah to Gohardasht\u2026 under a plan to classify prisoners, employed by Davoud Lashgari, Nasserian [Mohammad Moghiseh] & Hamid [Noury],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese series of events reminded us of the dark memories of 1981. Those who did not disavow their support for the MEK would be sent to the gallows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Death Commission was acting on direct orders from regime supreme leader Ruhollah Khomeini.<br>On August 2, 1988, Royaei was summoned along with several other prisoners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prisoners were taken to a corridor that became known as the \u201cDeath Corridor,\u201d where prisoners waited for their turn to meet the Death Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the Death Corridor was the \u201cDeath Hall,\u201d the warehouse where prisoners were hanged in groups. As one group of inmates were hanged, the prison authorities forced the others to watch until it became their turn to have the noose thrown around their neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter about half an hour, I recognized the voice of Hamid Abbasi [Noury] calling names. I pushed up my blindfold a bit and saw Hamid Abbasi standing in the middle of the hallway and reading names,\u201d Royaei said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\"After about half an hour, I recognized the voice of Hamid Abbasi [Noury] calling names. I pushed up my blindfold a bit and saw Hamid Abbasi standing in the middle of the hallway and reading names,\u201d Royaei said.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/1988Massacre?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#1988Massacre<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tFB6vluFMo\">pic.twitter.com\/tFB6vluFMo<\/a><\/p>\u2014 People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) (@Mojahedineng) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mojahedineng\/status\/1460553289083146243?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 16, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAround 5 or 6 pm, Nasserian took me to the Death Commission,\u201d Royaei said. \u201cThere was [Hossein Ali] Nayyeri; intel ministry representative [Mostafa] Pourmohammadi, [Morteza] Eshraghi, and [Ebrahim] Raisi whom I thought to be a prison guard,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Death Corridor, Royaei heard Noury calling 10-15 names, those being taken for execution. \u201cI was sitting less than a meter from [Noury]. I could see a few meters from under the blindfold. The guards were wearing military attire. But Nasserian & [Noury] wore plain clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Royaei: I came to Gohardasht prison in 1986, and I would see Hamid Abbasi and Nasserian from then on. They also, commemorated Iran\u2019s November 2019 uprising and it\u2019s martyrs.
