\"United — ^{United Nations General Assembly(UNGA)<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) issued a statement<\/a> on December 16, 2021, in regard to the UN Resolution condemning human rights violations in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Full text of the statement as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
68th UN Resolution condemning the gross and systematic violation of human rights by the Iranian regime was adopted by the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The resolution \u201cExpresses serious concern at the alarmingly high frequency of the imposition and carrying-out of the death penalty,\u201d \u201cwidespread and systematic use of arbitrary arrests and detentions,\u201d \u201cdeliberately denying prisoners access to adequate medical treatment and supplies,\u201d and \u201cappalling acts committed by prison guards at Evin prison,\u201d \u201charassment, intimidation, and persecution, including abductions, arrests, and executions, of political opponents, human rights defenders,\u201d and \u201carbitrary arrest and detention, and torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment against peaceful protesters,\u201d and \u201cthe use of torture to extract confessions, and cases of suspicious deaths in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReiterating the importance of credible, independent and impartial investigations in response to all cases of serious human rights violations\u2026including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and destruction of evidence in relation to such violations,\u201d the resolution calls for an end to \u201cimpunity for such violations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming the adoption of the 68th resolution of the UNGA condemning the brutal and systematic violations of human rights in Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>), said: While this resolution reflects only a small portion of the crimes of the ruling religious fascism in Iran, it, nevertheless, proves that this regime has always been the leading human rights violator in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
