Iran\u2019s regime is promoting the State Security Forces (SSF) to the level of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC<\/a>) and the army.
Chief of Staff of Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri announced the change on December 9, 2021, and regime media reported that the plan was approved and signed by supreme leader Ali Khamenei<\/a> three weeks prior to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are high expectancies from the SSF, and in comparison to other armed forces, the SSF is expansive at all levels\u2026 and present in all aspects of people\u2019s lives,\u201d Bagheri said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bagheri added that the changes are expected to make the SSF \u201cdynamic, powerful, and agile\u201d and \u201cmore cohesive and coordinate with other branches of the armed forces.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
