\n<\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, U.S. lawmakers referenced the 1979 revolution which overthrew the monarchical dictatorship of the Shah. They praised the Iranian people for their spirit and aspirations for a better future for Iran and voiced their support for the establishment of a democratic, secular republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/alternative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NCRI<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a> sent a video message to the conference to praise the efforts of American legislators in their support of a free Iran. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Message to Congressional Meeting on Anniversary of the 1979 Anti-Monarchical Revolution\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F3h_Frjozwg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She said, \u201cWe hope that Congress shapes US policy in a way that mistakes committed during the Shah\u2019s regime are avoided and that US policy distances itself from approaches that appease the mullahs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCRI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/bi-partisan-support-by-u-s-lawmakers-of-a-democratic-secular-republic-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cThe conference on Friday witnessed the bi-partisan support of 50 members of the House of Representatives. These lawmakers are co-sponsors of House Resolution 118, which calls for a democratic Iran, and with 250 co-sponsors enjoy the support of a majority of the U.S. House of Representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congressman Brad Sherman, a Democrat from California, discussed how following the revolution, the Iranian people hoped for democracy but were instead forced to live under the mullahs\u2019 corrupt regime. He said, \u201cFor too long, the Iranian people have been deprived of their fundamental freedoms, for which reason they rejected dictatorship in 1979 and oppose religious tyranny today. And that\u2019s why I became the chief sponsor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-resolution\/118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Resolution 118<\/a>, expressing support for the Iranian people\u2019s desire for a democratic, secular, and nonnuclear-nuclear republic of Iran and condemning violations of human rights and state-sponsored terrorism by the current Iranian regime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) | Bipartisan Congressional Iran Briefing 2022\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_BJm8vU2EpM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>His fellow Californian Democrat, Congresswoman Judi Chu, spoke about the bipartisan bill condemning the Iranian regime\u2019s support of terrorism and explained that it is a sign to the Iranian people that they are not alone in their struggles. She gave her support for the fight to establish freedom and democracy in Iran, and hoped that the future republic would be able to work well with other countries to build a safer world for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCRI said, \u201cThe majority of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1988 genocide<\/a> victims were members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK)<\/a> organization. Following Khomeini\u2019s fatwa, the so-called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/perpetrators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Death Commissions<\/a>\u201d were formed across the country. These commissions were tasked with identifying condemning to death those prisoners who refused to disavow their beliefs. The regime\u2019s current president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-call-on-international-community-to-prosecute-ebrahim-raisi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ebrahim Raisi<\/a> was a member of Tehran\u2019s Death Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congresswoman Chu also highlighted the fact that Raisi has been allowed to continue suppressing the Iranian people and their democratic aspirations, rather than being held responsible for the violence he has incited on innocent civilians for the past four decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) | Bipartisan Congressional Iran Briefing 2022\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hfn_rqfgUAE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Praising the brave souls who gave their lives for a free Iran, Congressman Joe Willson, a senior Republican from South Carolina, said, \u201cWe will not forget these dissidents who were abused or killed at the hands of the regime, and we stand with those in pursuit of a secular, democratic Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) | Bipartisan Congressional Iran Briefing 2022\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/89Ops6ciRG0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting the decades of abuse that the regime has inflicted on Iran, Democrat Congressman Brad Schneider from Illinois, urged the U.S. government to \u201calways stand with those who exercise their political rights,\u201d and stated that they \u201cmust continue doing everything we can to speak out against Iran\u2019s human rights abuses and hold the regime to account.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congressman Blake Moore, a Republican from Utah, warned the world\u2019s community to \u2018remain vigilant\u2019 in regards to the regime\u2019s reign of terror internationally. Through proxy groups, the mullahs have already spread violence and religious extremism across Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Rep.
