A group of freedom-loving Iranians, MEK supporters, have gathered in front of a Stockholm courthouse demanding the trial and prosecution of the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre in Iran \u2013 Summer 2021<\/sub><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This week marked a turning point in the trial of an infamous henchman of the Iranian regime who is on trial <\/a>in Sweden for committing crimes against humanity. Hamid Noury<\/a> was arrested by Swedish authorities in November 2019 and put on trial for his involvement in the massacre of at least 30,000 political prisoners in 1988<\/a>. The episode has been described as a genocide and crime against humanity by international experts and lawyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The majority of the victims were members of the principal opposition Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK<\/a>). On Tuesday, March 8, the lawyer representing the MEK <\/a>during the Noury <\/a>trial offered clear evidence regarding the 1988 mass killings<\/a> in Iran. The evidence provided by Kenneth Lewis was enough to force Noury <\/a>to confess to the premeditated nature of the killings despite his initial dismissals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Lewis presented to the court an interview with the regime\u2019s current president, Ebrahim Raisi<\/a>, who was involved in the 1988 massacre<\/a>. In the interview with Al-Jazeera, Raisi admitted to the 1988 mass killings. During the June 2021 presidential sham \u201celections,\u201d the Iranian people overwhelmingly boycotted the vote, calling Raisi the \u201c1988 henchman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
