Nationwide support for the annual gathering of the Iranian democratic opposition<\/a><\/p>\n

On the brink of this year\u2019s Iranian opposition convention<\/a>, scheduled for June 30th<\/sup>\u00a0in Paris, a new list of EU MEPs are heard expressing their support for the Iranian people\u2019s struggle for freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n

Eduard Kukan<\/b>\u00a0served as\u00a0Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia\u00a0from 1998 to 2006.\u00a0He was a candidate in the\u00a0presidential election\u00a0held on 3 April 2004, and although pre-election polls had suggested he would come in first, he actually came in third behind former prime minister\u00a0Vladim\u00edr Me\u010diar\u00a0and\u00a0Ivan Ga\u0161parovi\u010d, thus preventing him from contesting the run-off.He was elected\u00a0Member of the European Parliament\u00a0(MEP) in 2009.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We hear a lot about Iran. Things which had been discussed is the international treaty about the future nuclear deal with Iran, but I think that we should be interested more to know what\u2019s really going on in Iran. We should really appreciate the opposition activities by which they are trying to fight for democratic Iran. We should appreciate the activities of all Iranian opposition also especially be younger Iranians who are dreaming about their country. As the Free as the free country.<\/p>\n

We as the democratically elected representatives of the people of European nations should encourage Iranian opposition and Iranian society to keep out the fight for the change of regime in Iran. And they also know that there will be a big event in Paris on the 30th of June and I think that for us the members of the European Parliament is a very good opportunity to express and confer very clearly be solidarity with the opposition in Iran.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of Maryam Rajavi whom I had the honor to meet several times. I am fully confident that this is going to be a very successful event, and I am sending my personal greetings and encouragement to all its participants.<\/p>\n

Dear Iranian friends it\u2019s an honor for me to address you this message as we are getting close to the great annual gathering of the Iranian democratic opposition, which will be held on Saturday, 30th of June in Paris. This year this rally is held on the totally different circumstances. For the first time in 39 years, we have witnessed a nationwide protest that is calling for the downfall of the present regime in Iran. We have seen people from all different sectors of the society in continuous protests, from farmers, workers, students, teachers and even truck drivers, who launched an impressive nationwide strike protest, really frightened the regime. The top leaders of the regime, including Khamenei and Rouhani, have all explicitly confessed and complained about the role of the PMOI and the Iranian opposition under the leadership of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, in these uprisings, when the European Parliament who have been following your struggle for all these years. We can clearly tell you from here that the Iranian regime is on its last legs. The change is finally coming to Iran. But the mullahs are desperately doing everything to prevent that. We, therefore need to increase all activities.<\/p>\n

And I urge everyone to join the rally this year in Paris for supporting the democratic change in Iran.<\/p>\n
