^{Former German Defense Minister, Dr. Franz-Josef Jung<\/sup><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nOn February 17, 2023, a grand rally<\/a> of freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance (NCRI <\/a>and MEK<\/a>) was held at Max-Jozef-Platz, in front of the security conference in Munich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several German Parliament members and political personalities attended the rally, which addressed supporting the Iranian people\u2019s demands for freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Franz-Josef Jung, former German Defense Minister, gave a speech to the demonstrators at the rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n<\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A translated version of Dr. Franz-Josef Jung\u2019s speech is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I greet all participants here in Munich who are standing against the clerical regime in Iran. The Munich Security Conference is attended by senior politicians and economists as well as social groups including the American Vice President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran has been a topic of this conference for many years, in particular, due to the threat the regime poses to international security. But also, the discussions include [Iranian] nuclear weapons. That means that Iran should not be allowed to possess <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/inside-source-reports\/iran-s-nuclear-weapons-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nuclear weapons<\/a>, and the violent crackdown on the protests in Iran are also part of the discussions. Through the protests that have lasted 5 months, the Iranian people have made it clear, that they do not want any form of dictatorship in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/iran-1979-anti-monarchical-revolution-never-ended\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shah\u2019s dictatorship, which ended in 1979<\/a>. Unfortunately, this was followed by the dictatorship of the mullahs, who have been brutally oppressing the Iranian people for 44 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nationwide uprising of the Iranian people for 5 months has caused a rethink at the Munich Security Conference. The Iranian regime has been disinvited to attend this year\u2019s event. The move against the brutal dictatorship in Iran is warmly welcomed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43072\" onerror=\"this.src='https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/themes\/hello-elementor\/images\/broken-image-placeholder.gif';this.srcset='https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/themes\/hello-elementor\/images\/broken-image-placeholder.gif';\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image.png 1000w, https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-768x511.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though we object to the invitation of Shah\u2019s son Reza Pahlavi for this year\u2019s conference. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/ncri\/alternative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Iranian Resistance<\/a> sees this as an affront to the protesters who have been 5 months risking their lives on the streets of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pahlavi dynasty came to power in a coup and was responsible for numerous massacres all across Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without a clear condemnation and distancing from this dictatorship, Reza <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/who-is-reza-the-bully-and-why-does-reza-pahlavi-seeks-credit-from-him\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pahlavi <\/a>should not participate in the Munich Security Conference. Furthermore, Reza Pahlavi has repeatedly confirmed that he needs the Islamic Revolutionary Guards and the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/article\/basij-irans-most-hated-paramilitary-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Basij <\/a>militias to secure his claim to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/look-irans-revolutionary-guards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRGC <\/a>is responsible for the brutal crackdown on Iran\u2019s uprising and is on the United States terrorist list. They are the main factor in the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children. This cannot be the new beginning in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran needs freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/tomorrow-s-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">10-point plan<\/a>, which is the democratic alternative.
