Activists also reported significant disruptions to internet access in Zahedan at approximately 10:00 am local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFootage from Zahedan revealed that helicopters were flown over the city during Friday prayers, likely in anticipation of protests. Despite these measures, the people of Zahedan still held their weekly protest rallies after the prayers. We will die! We will take back Iran!\u201d \u201cKurds, Baluch, Azeris, freedom, and equality!\u201d \u201cPolitical prisoners must be freed!\u201d \u201cIranians! Unity, revolution, freedom!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nOne placard read, \u201cEvin [Prison] has become university, the universities have become prisons,\u201d highlighting the repression faced by students throughout the country. Another placard condemned the regime\u2019s discrimination against the Baluch people, stating, \u201cThe Baluch people deserve respect, not repression and execution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nFriday also marked the birthday of <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/human-rights\/2022\/12\/iranian-regime-executes-the-second-young-protester-majidreza-rahnavard-in-the-face-of-continued-the-nationwide-iran-protests\/40706\/\">Majidreza Rahnavard<\/a>, a young protester who was executed by the regime in December for participating in nationwide protests. Rahnavard was subjected to severe torture and forced to make incriminating confessions before being hanged. People in various cities commemorated Majidreza, with protesters in Tehran displaying a banner that read, \u201cWe will remove all nooses and gallows from Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn Mashhad, Majidreza\u2019s hometown, the regime implemented stringent security measures to prevent protests on his birthday.
