Judy Sgro: We Are on Our Way to Democracy in Iran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The full text of Canadian MP, Judy Sgro\u2019s remarks, is as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madam Rajavi<\/a>, it\u2019s so wonderful to be back here with you again. To my colleagues in government, our friends in the US and the UK, it\u2019s great to be together because we are all united. 26 countries, with over 3,600 signatures on these letters. It has to be sending a very strong message back to the regime that their time has come. They\u2019ve done enough damage. It\u2019s time to move on. And as Iranians across Iran take to the streets and demand freedom, women, life, freedom. Those are signs that are throughout Canada in so many ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madam Rajavi, your movement has made great sacrifices over the last 44 years, and I certainly don\u2019t have to mention very many of them. I was fortunate last year when I was in Albania to visit the Ashraf 3 again and to see so many people that go back to when I was the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. And they were just being brutalized. And so whenever I look at them, tears come to my eyes because they suffered so much. You all have suffered so much, and yet you\u2019re here. You\u2019re fighting every single day. And there are just not words enough to ever express the appreciation of the world, not just the Iranian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last 44 years, more than 120,000 lives were among Iran\u2019s most patriotic and freedom-loving people. I\u2019ve seen their supporters in Canada for decades. And happy Canada Day to all the Canadians, by the way, because today is Canada\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madam Rajavi, your Ten-Point Plan<\/a> is a true example of democracy, and I\u2019m so happy to see so many countries have recognized that. But I wanted to give you a short update on some of the things that Canada has done just in the last couple of months, some of the diplomatic actions, sanctions, and other punitive measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an honour to speak at the #FreeIran<\/a> World Summit 2023 in Paris and reconnect with likeminded leaders across the globe. The world should not be silent as people of Iran continue their fight for freedom and democracy.
