And allow me, without further ado, to apologize for our president C\u00e9cile Rilhac who, unfortunately and with regret, could not be present among us today.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn a few days, this country will celebrate the 14th of July. 234 years ago, the French overthrew a monarchy they had suffered under for far too long. And 234 years later, we continue to gather in the streets of France because we understand the price and value of the freedom we enjoy every day. And I want to say here before you that the Iranian people themselves have never been closer to their own 14th of July, and this long-awaited moment of the end of a regime that has caused them immense suffering will also come for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWe all, beyond our differences, beyond our sensitivities, beyond our life paths, we are all gathered here around what unites us. A struggle for regained freedom in Iran. Dear friends, I must tell you that there were attempts to deprive us of this gathering. But through the determination of the NCRI, this gathering can take place today, can be held. <\/p>\n\n\n\nAnd we are, you are, the voice of the resistance that must speak up and be heard all over the world, right here from Paris. We have not been deprived of this gathering. And we will say with strength, we will shout our determination to restore the basic liberties to the people of Iran that they have been deprived of.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIf we are here, it\u2019s because justice has ultimately prevailed. And at this moment, I want to think of those who are not only deprived of almost all their rights but also think of those who have lost their lives. I think of the unspeakable massacres of 1988. And I want to salute the foremost among them, Mariam Rajavi, who is the symbol of this struggle worldwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\nAlongside these women, I also want to salute the youth of Iran, this youth that is the future of this country and who today, at the risk of great danger, takes to the streets, defies the prohibitions, and tells the whole world that they will go all the way to regain the freedom that has been taken from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSo, what is happening in Tehran, what is happening all over Iran, is not just the return of freedom, not just the advent of democracy we wish for, not just the restoration of lost rights. What is happening in Iran is peace in the world, and that\u2019s why all democrats committed to freedoms must mobilize so that Iran can regain serenity and peace. It\u2019s peace in the world because a desperate regime can export terrorism anywhere to salvage what remains for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\nAnd the great democracies of this world must understand that fighting for freedom in Iran is also fighting for freedom in the world. Because when a regime allies itself with the worst governments, when it sometimes involves supplying drones to Russia to attack Ukraine, then it\u2019s Europe that\u2019s targeted, and behind Europe, it\u2019s France that is concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe responsibility of every democrat is to defend the right of peoples to self-determination everywhere. And I want to tell you at this moment my pride in what has recently happened in France\u2019s National Assembly, with, and it\u2019s historic, it\u2019s unprecedented, a majority of deputies signing the same text. <\/p>\n\n\n\nI have it here, a majority of French deputies have signed the same text. It is written on this document, the majority of the French National Assembly supports the Iranian people in their struggle for a secular and democratic republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\nSay it, let it be known, because where governments may sometimes stay silent, the national representation can speak up, it can express itself, it has a voice that also belongs to the French people of whom we, the deputies, are the stewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSo, to conclude, I would like to express just one wish. Et je veux dire ici devant vous que ce m\u00eame peuple d\u2019Iran n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi proche de son propre 14 juillet et qu\u2019adviendra pour lui aussi ce moment tant attendu de la fin d\u2019un r\u00e9gime qui ne l\u2019a fait que trop souffrir.<\/p>\n\n\n\nNous sommes toutes et tous, par-del\u00e0 nos diff\u00e9rences, par-del\u00e0 nos sensibilit\u00e9s, par-del\u00e0 nos parcours de vie, nous sommes toutes et tous ici rassembl\u00e9s autour de ce qui nous unit. Un combat pour la libert\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9e en Iran. <\/p>\n\n\n\nChers amis, je dois vous dire qu\u2019on a voulu nous priver de ce rassemblement. Mais par la d\u00e9termination du CNRI, ce rassemblement aujourd\u2019hui peut avoir lieu, peut se tenir. Et nous sommes, vous \u00eates, la voix de la r\u00e9sistance qui doit s\u2019exprimer et se faire entendre partout dans le monde ici depuis Paris. Nous n\u2019avons pas \u00e9t\u00e9 priv\u00e9s de ce rassemblement. Et nous dirons avec force, nous crierons notre d\u00e9termination \u00e0 rendre \u00e0 ce peuple d\u2019Iran les libert\u00e9s \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires dont il est priv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSi nous sommes ici, c\u2019est parce que le droit a fini par l\u2019emporter. Et je veux \u00e0 cet instant avoir une pens\u00e9e pour celles et ceux qui sont non seulement priv\u00e9s de presque tous leurs droits, mais avoir \u00e9videmment une pens\u00e9e pour celles et ceux qui ont perdu la vie. Je pense \u00e0 ces massacres indicibles de 1988. Et je veux saluer la m\u00e9moire de celles et ceux qui aujourd\u2019hui encore perdent la vie toutes les semaines en Iran, condamn\u00e9s \u00e0 mort par un r\u00e9gime qui massacre son peuple. Je veux aussi avoir une pens\u00e9e pour celles et ceux qui r\u00e9sistent partout dans le monde et au premier rang desquels, permettez-moi d\u2019y mettre les femmes qui dans ce combat pour la libert\u00e9 jouent les premiers r\u00f4les. <\/p>\n\n\n\nEt je veux saluer la premi\u00e8re d\u2019entre elles, Mariam Radjavi, qui est l\u2019honneur de ce combat men\u00e9 partout dans le monde. Aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de ces femmes, je veux aussi saluer la jeunesse d\u2019Iran, cette jeunesse qui est l\u2019avenir de ce pays et qui aujourd\u2019hui, au prix de risque insens\u00e9, descend dans la rue, brave les interdit, et dit, cette jeunesse dit au monde entier qu\u2019elle ira jusqu\u2019au bout pour retrouver la libert\u00e9 qu\u2019on lui a enlev\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAlors ce qui se joue \u00e0 T\u00e9h\u00e9ran, ce qui se joue partout en Iran, ce n\u2019est pas seulement le retour de la libert\u00e9, ce n\u2019est pas seulement l\u2019av\u00e8nement de la d\u00e9mocratie que nous souhaitons, ce n\u2019est pas seulement le retour des droits perdus. Ce qui se joue en Iran, c\u2019est la paix dans le monde et c\u2019est la raison pour laquelle toutes celles et ceux d\u00e9mocrates attach\u00e9s aux libert\u00e9s doivent se mobiliser pour que l\u2019Iran puisse retrouver la s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9 et la paix. <\/p>\n\n\n\nC\u2019est la paix dans le monde parce qu\u2019un r\u00e9gime aux abois peut exporter le terrorisme partout pour sauver ce qui lui reste. Et les grandes d\u00e9mocraties de ce monde doivent entendre que lutter pour la libert\u00e9 en Iran, c\u2019est lutter aussi pour la libert\u00e9 dans le monde. Parce que lorsqu\u2019un r\u00e9gime s\u2019allie avec les pires r\u00e9gimes, quand il s\u2019agit parfois de fournir des drones \u00e0 la Russie pour aller attaquer l\u2019Ukraine, alors c\u2019est bien l\u2019Europe qui est vis\u00e9e et derri\u00e8re l\u2019Europe, c\u2019est la France qui est concern\u00e9e. La responsabilit\u00e9 de tout d\u00e9mocrate, c\u2019est de d\u00e9fendre partout le droit des peuples \u00e0 disposer d\u2019eux-m\u00eames. Et je veux vous dire \u00e0 cet instant ma fiert\u00e9 de ce qui s\u2019est pass\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment en France \u00e0 l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e nationale avec, et c\u2019est historique, c\u2019est in\u00e9dit, une majorit\u00e9 de d\u00e9put\u00e9s qui ont sign\u00e9 le m\u00eame texte. Je l\u2019ai ici, une majorit\u00e9 de d\u00e9put\u00e9s fran\u00e7ais ont sign\u00e9 le m\u00eame texte.
