The event held in Brussels to commemorate the first anniversary of Iran\u2019s 2022 uprising<\/a>. This conference was organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The text of MEP Dorien Rookmaker\u2019s speech follows:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dear President Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, dear honorable guests, dear honorable friends in the audience, I am so happy and honored I can be here, even if the reason why we\u2019re here is a tragic one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a tragic one because we still are confronted with a murderous regime in Iran. There is no excuse for oppression, there is no excuse for oppressors, there\u2019s no excuse for a regime murdering their own people, and there\u2019s no excuse for the European Union to talk with criminals like the regime in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahsa Amini <\/a>became a heroine against all odds. Since her death, we have been chanting, \u201cWomen, life, freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nThe European Parliament stands behind the opposition and against the criminal regime in Iran. I call on all EU-political leaders of all member states to do the same.
