Bill Richardson: You are the source of change in Iran<\/p>\n

At the\u00a0Free Iran Gathering in Paris<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday, many distinguished politicians came forward to support the Iranian people\u2019s fight for regime change, including Bill Richardson, Former Governor of New Mexico, former chair of the DNC.<\/p>\n

In his speech,expressed his support for the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance.and said:\u00a0America stands behind you.<\/p>\n

Are you ready for change in Iran? [applause] Are you ready for regime change in Iran? [applause] Are you ready for Madame Rajavi<\/a> as president of Iran? [applause] [chanting] Are you ready for the dictatorship to end? [applause]<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\nYou know, all you read about is water shortages, corruption, lack of free elections, executions, pensions disappearing, enormous political unrest.\u00a0 Do you know why?\u00a0 Because the end is near. [applause] And what you\u2019re seeing is enormous change.\u00a0 Like many of my colleagues here, and you see in back of me\u2014Democrats, Republicans, Senators, generals, activists, political leaders from around America, and I want you to know that as Senator Torricelli said, \u201cAmerica stands behind you.\u201d [applause] [chanting]<\/p>\nAnd I see in the back leaders from around the world\u2014legislators, prime ministers, leaders from almost every western European, African nation, Asian nation behind you.\u00a0 You know, I remember being here maybe eight years ago at the first assembly here.\u00a0 And I remember the crowd was not that big, but today I see about 2 million people here. [applause] I\u2019m a politician.\u00a0 I have to say things like that.<\/p>\nYou know, here\u2019s my last point.\u00a0 My last point is that there are a lot of distinguished leaders here, but do you know what this event is about?\u00a0 This even is about you.\u00a0 You are the source of change in Iran.\u00a0 The young people, the women, [applause] the resistance, the youth, the young people here. [applause] And I want to tell you, a lot of people ask, \u201cIs there an alternative to the mullahs, to the dictatorship?\u201d\u00a0 And the answer is, \u201cYes, it\u2019s the resistance.\u00a0 It\u2019s the MEK.\u00a0 It\u2019s Mrs. Rajavi. But it\u2019s you.\u201d [applause] And I say to you, \u201cWhy?\u00a0 Because you\u2019re the ones that have fought against the shah.\u00a0 You fought against the dictatorship, against the religious dictatorship.\u00a0 You were there in the trenches fighting and dying.\u00a0 And you represent a platform, a democratic platform of freedom and democracy.\u00a0 You stand for gender equality.\u00a0 You stand for the UN charter in human rights.\u00a0 You stand for free and fair elections.\u00a0 You stand for the private sector.\u00a0 You stand for the end of Sharia law.\u00a0 You stand for democracy and young people having an opportunity for a future.\u00a0 For a future with jobs.<\/p>\nSo I say to you here, as your friend, the power is with you.\u00a0 The power is with everyone in this room and each one of you represents thousands in Iran that are saying the dictatorship\u2014no moderates, no dictatorship.\u00a0 The end is near.\u00a0 The end if near. [applause]<\/p>\nSo are you for a free Iran? [applause] Will you vote for Mrs. Rajavi as prime minister, President of Iran? [applause] [chanting] Thank you!
