March 1, 2024, marked the convening of a significant conference titled \u201cResisting Tyranny, an Oppressive Judiciary, Combating State Terrorism.\u201d The event featured Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>), alongside several esteemed European and American political figures.<\/p>\n
One notable participant was Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras<\/a>, the President of the International Committee in Search of Justice and former Vice-President of the European Parliament. His presence was particularly poignant as it marked his first public appearance at an NCRI event since surviving an assassination attempt orchestrated by the Iranian regime in November 2023.<\/p>\n
Among the distinguished guests were Peter Altmaier, former Minister of Economy and former member of the German Federal Parliament; Louis Freeh, former Director of the FBI; Ambassador Robert Joseph, former Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security; Stanislav Pavlovschi, former Minister of Justice of Moldova and former Judge at the European Court of Human Rights; Struan Stevenson<\/a>, former MEP and President of the European Parliament\u2019s Delegation for Relations with Iraq and co-founder of the International Committee In Search of Justice; Paulo Casaca<\/a>, former Member of the European Parliament from Portugal; and Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Legaret, Mayor of the 1st District of Paris.<\/p>\n
During the conference, Mrs. Rajavi<\/a> vehemently condemned <\/a>the trial <\/a>in absentia of over 100 Iranian Resistance members by the clerical regime. She underscored the trial\u2019s violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international judicial standards, labeling it as a politically motivated conspiracy aimed at justifying terrorist actions in Europe and imposing restrictions on the Iranian Resistance, particularly targeting the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) members at Ashraf-3 in Albania. She highlighted the trial as a clear escalation of internal repression and terrorist aggression against the Iranian Resistance.<\/p>\n
In her address, Mrs. Rajavi also emphasized the lack of legitimate jurisdiction in the regime\u2019s Judiciary and its operation against the basic principles of the Independence of the Judiciary adopted by the UN General Assembly. She pointed out the inherent injustice and invalidity of all verdicts rendered by this corrupt apparatus over the past 45 years, shedding light on the complicity of all participants in the trial with the regime\u2019s machinery of torture and execution.<\/p>\n
