Iran protests quickly transformed from economic woes to calls for the overthrow of the Iran\u2019s regime<\/p>\n

Iran, August 5, 2018 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0One of the most notable characteristics of the demonstrations<\/a> that shook different Iranian cities in the past week was the protesters\u2019 slogans, which quickly transformed from economic woes to calls for the overthrow of the Iranian regime and the ouster of Ali Khamenei, its supreme leader.<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Protests are taking place against the backdrop of escalating economic problems, unemployment, rising prices and the dwindling value of the rial, Iran\u2019s national currency. Since April, the rial has lost half of its value. However, in many cities, protesters are chanting \u201cDeath to dictator\u201d and \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d a clear and irrefutable call for regime change. This indicates that the people of Iran know well what is the source of their miseries and the daily degradation of their livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Among the slogans are chants of \u201cthe people are begging while the leader is ruling like god.\u201d While Iran\u2019s economy has been in a freefall, the regime\u2019s authorities and the IRGC continue to embezzle and steal from the country\u2019s wealth to build their own personal economic empires. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/\">The National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a> has disclosed many of the details of the Iranian regime\u2019s government-induced corruption and how its officials are directly stealing the people\u2019s wealth.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">With the Trump admin. soon reimposing sanctions against Iran, the Iranian economy is as feeble as ever. <\/p>\n<p>And with brewing frustration among Iranian citizens, anti-govt demonstrations are popping up in cities around the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/roxanasaberi?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@roxanasaberi<\/a> reports <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/w8xM8UoTyG\">https:\/\/t.co\/w8xM8UoTyG<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SS5Fvnb17n\">pic.twitter.com\/SS5Fvnb17n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CBS Evening News (@CBSEveningNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSEveningNews\/status\/1025516837201739781?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 3, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">There have also been direct clashes between protesters and security forces dispatch to quell the demonstrations and disperse the crowds. The people are becoming bolder in confronting the regime\u2019s repressive forces. Accordingly, it\u2019s clear that the regime\u2019s riot police and bassij militia are becoming more and more reluctant to directly engage conflicts with protesters. While the regime has tried to blame the U.S. and other foreign powers for Iran\u2019s economic grievances, the people of Iran hold no illusion as to who is to blame.
