Winchester, UK \u2013 April 14, 2025: <\/strong>The Academics in Exile Association<\/em>, supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>), organized a public bookstall and photo exhibition in Winchester to protest the recent wave of executions in Iran, including the execution of five political prisoners<\/a> in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"89\" data-end=\"794\">The event also condemned the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/human-rights\/2024\/12\/urgent-action-required-six-political-prisoners-sentenced-to-death-in-iran\/67727\/\" rel=\"\">death sentences<\/a> recently issued against <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" rel=\"\">PMOI<\/a>-affiliated prisoners and called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners. Held in solidarity with Iran\u2019s prisoners of conscience, the gathering responded to the alarming surge in torture and systematic executions carried out by the regime in the past week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"420\" data-end=\"840\">Participants used the exhibition to call on the UK government to designate Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/articles\/2023\/04\/irans-regime-irgc-a-state-sponsored-terrorist-organization\/44858\/\">IRGC<\/a> ) as a terrorist organization and to shut down the Iranian regime\u2019s embassy in London, labeling it a center of espionage and terror operations. Members of the Iranian diaspora in Winchester joined the call for international legal action against Iran\u2019s ruling authorities for crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"900\">Posting on X, the Academics in Exile Association shared:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"901\" data-end=\"1141\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1141\">\u201cAcademics in Exile held a powerful bookstall in Winchester City Centre on April 14, 2025, standing in solidarity with political prisoners in Iran. Citizens rallied, signed petitions, and demanded the IRGC be listed as a terrorist group!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fA8TtYnSFE\">pic.twitter.com\/fA8TtYnSFE<\/a><\/p>\u2014 Academics In Exile Association (@iranianacademic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iranianacademic\/status\/1911825646746992687?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<p>Additionally, the academics called for justice, tougher sanctions on the regime, and recognition of the Iranian people\u2019s right to self-defense.
