San Francisco, June 29, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 On Sunday, Iranian-Americans and supporters of Iran\u2019s democratic opposition gathered at San Francisco\u2019s Union Square to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the June 20, 1981 uprising<\/a>\u2014known as the start of Iran\u2019s nationwide resistance against the clerical regime.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"834\" data-end=\"1226\">Organized by the Iranian American Community of Northern California (<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/IACNorCal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IAC NorCal<\/a>), and supported by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/national-council-of-resistance-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCRI<\/a>) and the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PMOI\/MEK<\/a>), the event featured a compelling photo exhibition that drew significant attention from the public and major Bay Area media outlets including NBC Bay Area, KTVU, KPIX-TV, and KCBS Radio.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1551\">The exhibition showcased four decades of struggle by the Iranian people and their organized resistance against tyranny, executions, and systemic repression. Attendees called for global recognition of the <strong data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1453\">Iran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/regime-change-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Third Option<\/a><\/strong>:<br data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1457\">\ud83d\udd39 No to war<br data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1472\">\ud83d\udd39 No to appeasement<br data-start=\"1492\" data-end=\"1495\">\ud83d\udd39 Yes to democratic regime change by the people of Iran<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1775\">Speakers and participants emphasized that the Iranian people do not seek foreign intervention, but rather international acknowledgment of their right to resist and to pursue a secular, democratic, and non-nuclear republic.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1917\">\n<p data-start=\"1779\" data-end=\"1917\">\u201cWhat Iranians need isn\u2019t arms or money\u2014but recognition of their organized resistance,\u201d NBC Bay Area\u2019s report quoted organizers as saying.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1919\" data-end=\"2237\">The exhibition honored the sacrifices of thousands who were executed or imprisoned by the regime, while also amplifying the voices of today\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/resistanceunits.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"2061\" data-end=\"2085\">MEK Resistance Units<\/strong><\/a> active inside Iran.
