At the third session of the Free Iran World Summit 2025<\/a> in Rome, Italian Senator Lucio Malan, leader of the Fratelli d\u2019Italia group in the Senate, voiced strong support for the Iranian Resistance<\/a> and its leader, Maryam Rajavi<\/a>. In a heartfelt speech, Senator Malan highlighted Mrs. Rajavi\u2019s inspiring role not just for Iranians but for all advocates of freedom around the globe.<\/p>\n
He contrasted the daily dangers faced by Iranian activists with the relative safeguards for democracy enjoyed in countries like Italy, stressing that standing up for freedom in Iran is vital for advancing liberty worldwide. Referring to the foiled 2018 terrorist attack on a Free Iran rally in Paris\u2014linked to an Iranian diplomat\u2014he condemned the regime\u2019s persistent backing of terrorism and human rights abuses. Senator Malan called on the international community to unite behind Iran\u2019s freedom movement, warning that the regime\u2019s influence spreads conflict, discrimination, and destruction rather than culture or prosperity.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming his and his party\u2019s endorsement of Maryam Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a>, Senator Malan described it as a democratic vision grounded in universal principles. \u201cSupporting this plan in Iran,\u201d he stated, \u201cmeans upholding these values in our own nations as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is a big honor. Mayor Giuliani, we have met several times before. And it is an especially great honor to be here with President Charles Michel, one of the greatest figures in European politics, and all the other distinguished panelists.<\/p>\n<p>But I say, it is a very great honor to be here with President Maryam Rajavi, who inspires not only the freedom-loving Iranian patriots, but all who love freedom must be thankful to President Maryam Rajavi and to all of you who support her. You are an example with your endeavor and your constancy in supporting freedom in your country. For us, it is much easier to protect freedom. We have to be proud of our democratic institutions and ensure they are running at their best. Here we have a group of mayors who do their best in their own towns and cities. But it is another thing when, like in Iran and for many of you even here in Europe, you put your own lives at risk.<\/p>\n<p>We remember very well that a few years ago in Paris, there was an attempt to place a bomb in the big rally that many of us, including myself, attended. We later found out that an Iranian diplomat was involved in this shameful attempt. We know how important this is. And it is important not only for the freedom of Iran and for the freedom of all people\u2014because when one person is not free, nobody is completely free\u2014but it is also important because of the role that today\u2019s Iranian regime, the mullahs\u2019 regime, plays in supporting international terrorism. It supports activities that have nothing to do with the welfare of the Iranian people, which should be the duty and objective of all actions of the government in Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>[By] protecting and supporting those who want freedom in Iran, we protect international peace and promote stability in the entire area where Iran has, and has always had, a big influence. This influence should be, as it has been for many centuries, used to increase prosperity, improve culture, and advance human progress. Instead, today it is an influence that brings war, destruction, and discrimination against women, minorities, and political opponents in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Everybody should be thankful to Maryam Rajavi and to the organization that she leads. We have given our support to the Ten-Point Plan for Iran because it is a platform that can be supported by anyone who loves freedom, democracy, and equality among human beings.
