August 8, 2025: The Iranian regime has transferred 5 death row political prisoners\u2014Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Babak Alipour\u2014to Ghezel Hesar Prison, an execution site.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the morning of Friday, August 8, 2025<\/strong>, Iranian authorities forcibly separated five death-row political prisoners from other detainees during a transfer from Fashafuyeh Prison back to Tehran\u2019s Evin Prison. Instead of returning with the others, they were taken to an undisclosed location\u2014believed to be Ghezel Hesar Prison<\/strong>, one of Iran\u2019s most notorious execution sites.<\/p>\n

The men\u2014Vahid Bani-Amerian<\/strong>, 33, master\u2019s in management<\/em>; Babak Alipour<\/strong>, 34, law graduate, prior four-year prison term<\/em>; Shahrokh Daneshvarkar<\/strong>, 58, civil engineer<\/em>; Pouya Ghobadi<\/strong>, 33, electrical engineer with previous arrests<\/em>; and Mohammad Taghavi<\/strong>, 59, veteran political prisoner from the 1980s and 1990s<\/em>\u2014were sentenced to death in December 2024<\/strong> by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Iman Afshari. The charges included \u201cmembership in the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>),\u201d \u201cassembly and collusion against national security,\u201d and \u201carmed rebellion against the state.\u201d<\/p>\n
