Gothenburg, Sweden \u2014 August 9, 2025 \u2014<\/strong> Supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) gathered in Gothenburg to warn of the imminent execution of five political prisoners<\/a> in Iran \u2014 Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Babak Alipour \u2014 after their transfer to Ghezel Hesar Prison, a site notorious for carrying out executions. Organizers said the transfers place the men\u2019s lives at immediate risk.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"678\">The rally also condemned the recent state-sanctioned executions of PMOI members <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/human-rights\/2025\/07\/execution-of-pmoi-political-prisoners-in-iran-behrouz-ehsani-and-mehdi-hassani-hanged\/76751\/\" rel=\"\">Mehdi Hassani<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/human-rights\/2025\/07\/execution-of-pmoi-political-prisoners-in-iran-behrouz-ehsani-and-mehdi-hassani-hanged\/76751\/\" rel=\"\">Behrouz Ehsani<\/a> and denounced what participants described as an escalating campaign of repression by the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Gothenburg Rally Condemns Executions in Iran, Urges Prisoners\u2019 Release - August 9, 2025 - video 2\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JhnadZ6m43s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"925\">Demonstrators voiced steadfast support for <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" rel=\"\">PMOI<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/resistanceunits.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resistance Units<\/a> operating inside Iran and reaffirmed their vision for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/plan-for-future-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">democratic republic<\/a> founded on freedom, equality, and secular governance \u2014 explicitly rejecting both theocracy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/society\/who-was-mohammad-reza-pahlavi-shah-irans-last-pahlavi-dictator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monarchy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"967\">Protesters issued three central demands:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"968\" data-end=\"1244\">\n<li data-start=\"968\" data-end=\"1022\">\n<p data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"1022\">the complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1096\">\n<p data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1096\">the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1244\">\n<p data-start=\"1099\" data-end=\"1244\">international recognition of the Iranian people\u2019s right to resist tyranny and calls for accountability and justice for victims of state violence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1664\">Freedom-loving Iranians in Los Angeles echoed the rally\u2019s message and backed Mrs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/ncri\/alternative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCRI<\/a>), to expand participation in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/campaign-of-no-to-executions-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No to Executions<\/a>\u201d campaign.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1664\">MEK supporters in Gothenburg also joyfully marked the upcoming 60th anniversary of the PMOI\u2019s founding on September 6, celebrating the organization\u2019s legacy and struggle for freedom.
