Manchester, UK \u2013 August 14, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The Academics in Exile Association, in solidarity with the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>), organized an exhibition and bookstall in Manchester to condemn the execution of Iranian political prisoners by the regime\u2019s ruling clerics.<\/p>\n
The event drew attention to the imminent execution of five political prisoners<\/a> in Iran: Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Babak Alipour. All five have been transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison, a notorious execution site, placing their lives in immediate danger.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1127\">The organizers and participants put forward three main demands:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1339\">\n<li data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1186\">\n<p data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1186\">The complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1187\" data-end=\"1259\">\n<p data-start=\"1190\" data-end=\"1259\">The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1339\">\n<p data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1339\">International recognition of the Iranian people\u2019s right to resist tyranny.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1593\">Participants also called on the UK government to designate Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/articles\/2023\/04\/irans-regime-irgc-a-state-sponsored-terrorist-organization\/44858\/\">IRGC<\/a>) as a terrorist organization and to close the Iranian regime\u2019s embassy in London, describing it as a hub for espionage and terrorist activities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1595\" data-end=\"1897\">Members of the Iranian diaspora in Manchester echoed these demands, urging international legal action against Iran\u2019s leaders for crimes against humanity. The academics further pressed for justice, stronger sanctions on the regime, and formal recognition of the Iranian people\u2019s right to self-defense.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"2063\">The exhibition attracted significant interest from a diverse audience in Manchester, underscoring the growing global concern over human rights violations in Iran.<\/p>\n<p
