Gothenburg, Sweden \u2013 August 23, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) organized and held a rally in Gothenburg to reaffirm their backing for Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u2019s Third Option<\/a> and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>), presenting it as a democratic alternative to Iran\u2019s theocratic regime.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"820\">Participants voiced concern over the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/human-rights\/2025\/08\/five-iranian-political-prisoners-at-imminent-risk-of-execution-after-transfer-to-ghezel-hesar\/77204\/\" rel=\"\">imminent execution of five political prisoners<\/a> and urged the abolition of the death penalty, the release of all political prisoners, and international recognition of the Iranian people\u2019s right to resist tyranny.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"1117\">Iranians in Gothenburg also commemorated the memory of more than 30,000 political prisoners executed on Khomeini\u2019s fatwa during the 1988 massacre, which marks its anniversary these days, and emphasized the need to hold all perpetrators and masterminds of this crime against humanity accountable.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1352\">The demonstrators called for stronger international measures, including blacklisting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (<a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/articles\/2023\/04\/irans-regime-irgc-a-state-sponsored-terrorist-organization\/44858\/\" rel=\"\">IRGC<\/a>) and closing the Iranian embassy in Sweden, to hold Tehran accountable for its human rights abuses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1750\">A key focus of the rally was <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/maryam-rajavi\/\" rel=\"\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/plan-for-future-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ten-Point Plan<\/a> <em data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1433\">for Iran\u2019s Future<\/em>, which advocates universal suffrage, gender equality, freedom of speech and assembly, autonomy for ethnic minorities, separation of religion and state, a non-nuclear Iran, and other democratic reforms. Attendees emphasized that this plan offers a clear and realistic roadmap for a free, secular, and democratic Iran.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1752\" data-end=\"1932\">Speakers condemned all forms of dictatorship, whether clerical or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/society\/who-was-mohammad-reza-pahlavi-shah-irans-last-pahlavi-dictator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monarchical<\/a>, stressing that Iran\u2019s future must rest on democracy, human rights, and the sovereignty of its people.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1934\" data-end=\"2163\">The rally concluded with a call to the international community to stand with the Iranian people, recognize their right to resist tyranny, and support the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/iranian-resistance-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEK<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/resistanceunits.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resistance Units<\/a> in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and democracy.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77767\"
