Hunger Strike in 52 Iranian Prisons \u2013 September 16, 2025<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, prisoners in 52 prisons across Iran will launch a coordinated hunger strike as part of the 86th week<\/a> of the \u00a0\u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>\u201d\u00a0 campaign. The action comes amid a growing wave of executions and coincides with the anniversary of the 2022 uprising<\/a> in memory of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini<\/a>, Navid Afkari<\/a>, and all those who lost their lives for freedom.<\/p>\n

The campaign highlights the shocking escalation in executions by the Iranian regime. The statement issued this week declares:<\/p>\n

\u201cSince that time, in these three years, more than 3,175 individuals have been executed solely by hanging, of whom 49 were political or ideological prisoners, and 95 were women.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Statement of the 86th Week of \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d<\/h3>\n

Remembering the 2022 Uprising and Its Martyrs<\/h4>\n

With the arrival of the anniversary of the nationwide protests of 2022, the day that shook the very foundations of the Velayat-e Faqih regime, we honor the memory of Zhina Amini and all those who lost their lives in that monumental and history-making movement.<\/p>\n

The uprising, which the tyrannical regime attempted to suppress only by firing bullets at the youth and women and by shooting protesters in the eyes, still continues in the resistance in streets and alleys.<\/p>\n

Escalation of Executions in Iran<\/h4>\n

The regime was so terrified of the uprising that it had no choice but to reveal its inhuman nature. After the 2022 popular uprising, it horrifically intensified executions, and since then, in these three years, more than 3,175 people have been executed solely by hanging. Among them were 49 political and ideological prisoners and 95 women.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, in just the past week, at least 34 prisoners were executed, and since the beginning of September, more than 126 people have been hanged. These figures reveal, day by day, the human catastrophe and systematic violations of human rights in Iran, further deepening the responsibility of the international community and all freedom-loving people to stand against these ruthless executions.<\/p>\n

Honoring Navid Afkari and Victims of Protest Movements<\/h4>\n

We also commemorate champion Navid Afkari, who was executed on September 12, 2020, sacrificing his life in the cause of freedom and justice. All the sacrifices in the protests of December 2017, November 2019, and 2022 have shown that the people of Iran will never surrender to repression and tyranny.<\/p>\n

Condemnation of Unjust Sentences<\/h4>\n

The \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign strongly condemns the death sentences issued for Pejman Toubareh-Rizi<\/a>, on the fabricated charge of corruption on earth, and Naser Bekrzadeh, a Kurdish prisoner accused on \u201csecurity\u201d grounds, and calls upon all human rights defenders and the public to resist these unlawful and unjust rulings.<\/p>\n

Solidarity with the People of Saqqez<\/h4>\n

As members of the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign, while expressing solidarity with the noble people and oppressed miners of Saqqez, and with the family of Mohammad Rashidi, who was murdered last night by the regime\u2019s repressive forces, we declare that we will not relent until the complete abolition of the death penalty and the establishment of genuine justice in Iran. Each week, with greater strength, we will raise this powerful voice for justice and the defense of human dignity and human rights.<\/p>\n
