Toronto, Canada \u2013 November 8, 2025 \u2013<\/strong> Iranian-Canadians, supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) gathered at Mel Lastman Square in Toronto to condemn the Iranian regime\u2019s widespread use of the\u00a0 death penalty<\/a> as a grave violation of human rights, particularly its execution of political prisoners.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"686\" data-end=\"733\">Call to Abolish the Death Penalty in Iran<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"735\" data-end=\"1054\">The rally demanded the complete abolition of capital punishment in Iran and the unconditional release of all political prisoners, especially those <a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/2025\/10\/17\/stop-executions-in-iran-recommendations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facing imminent execution<\/a>. Organizers also called for senior regime officials to be held accountable before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1056\" data-end=\"1096\">A Call for Justice and a Free Iran<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1457\">Participants reaffirmed support for <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1569\" data-end=\"1634\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u2018s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/campaign-of-no-to-executions-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No to Executions<\/a>\u201d\u00a0campaign, advocating for its global expansion. They emphasized the Iranian people\u2019s right to a secular, democratic republic, rejecting both theocracy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/society\/who-was-mohammad-reza-pahlavi-shah-irans-last-pahlavi-dictator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monarchy<\/a>, and highlighted the ongoing efforts of <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/iranian-resistance-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEK Resistance Units<\/a>\u00a0inside Iran fighting for justice and human rights.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1485\">Urging Global Action<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1979\">The rally urged the Government of Canada and the international community to take a firm stance in this year\u2019s United Nations resolution on Iran. Attendees called for support for the abolition of the death penalty and a strong condemnation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/1988-massacre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a> of political prisoners, one of the darkest chapters in modern Iranian history.
