On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>\u201d campaign marked its 100th consecutive week<\/a>, as prisoners in 55 prisons across Iran launched coordinated hunger strikes in protest against the death penalty and the ongoing wave of executions. With the joining of the women\u2019s ward of Yazd Prison, the campaign has expanded further, underscoring the persistence and growth of this prisoner-led movement.<\/p>\n

One Hundred Weeks of Resistance Against the Gallows<\/h3>\n

In a statement issued on the occasion of its 100th week, the imprisoned members of the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign described a relentless struggle against what they called the regime\u2019s \u201ckilling machine.\u201d Despite executions of fellow prisoners, harsh repression, and deeply painful losses, the campaign has continued without interruption for one hundred weeks.<\/p>\n

The statement commemorated \u201cone hundred weeks of saying no to execution,\u201d \u201cone hundred weeks of standing against cruelty and mercilessness,\u201d and \u201cone hundred weeks of resistance against a dictatorship that seeks to silence society through executions and death squads.\u201d<\/p>\n

The campaign also extended solidarity to all prisoners on death row and their families, marking the milestone in conjunction with Yalda Night, with hopes for the abolition of capital punishment in a free and prosperous Iran.<\/p>\n

Executions Exceed 2,000 in 2025<\/h3>\n

According to the campaign\u2019s statement, more than 2,000 people have been executed in Iran during the 2025 calendar year alone\u2014more than double the number recorded in 2024. In the month of Azar (November 22 to December 21), executions reportedly exceeded 357 cases.<\/p>\n

The campaign warned that this surge in executions reflects the critical condition of a government trapped in deep political, social, and economic crises. It argued that the authorities have turned to mass executions in an attempt to intimidate society and prevent future protests, a strategy the campaign says has failed and will continue to fail.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Ward of Yazd Prison Joins the Campaign<\/h3>\n

Coinciding with the 100th week, the women\u2019s ward of Yazd Prison officially joined the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign. The statement welcomed their participation and expressed hope that other prisons across the country will also join in the coming weeks, expanding the campaign nationwide.<\/p>\n

Campaign participants emphasized that their resistance will continue until the abolition of what they described as the anti-human death penalty.<\/p>\n

Hunger Strikes in 55 Prisons Nationwide<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, prisoners took part in hunger strikes in 55 prisons, including Evin Prison, Qezel Hesar Prison, Greater Tehran Penitentiary, Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz, Sheiban and Sepidar Prisons in Ahvaz, Zahedan Prison, Mashhad Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Yazd Prison, and dozens of other facilities across Iran.<\/p>\n
