Iran\u2019s nationwide uprising<\/a> entered its ninth day on Monday, January 5, 2026, after a bloody attack on Ilam\u2019s Khomeini Hospital and fierce clashes in Tehran. Protesters returned to the streets in Tehran\u2019s Grand Bazaar, Cheragh\u2011Bargh and Ahangaran markets, as well as Haft Hoz, Naziabad, Tehransar, Yaft Abad, and Shahrak\u2011e Vali Asr, chanting \u201cThis year is the year of blood, Khamenei will be overthrown\u201d and \u201cDeath to the dictator.\u201d Unrest also flared in Isfahan, Qahdarijan, Arak, Khomeynishahr, Qom, Sonqor, Eslamabad\u2011e\u2011Gharb, Yasuj, and Bandar Ganaveh, where people denounced poverty, corruption, and costly foreign interventions with slogans like \u201cThe people live like beggars, the leader lives like a god.\u201d<\/p>\n
