STRASBOURG \u2014 European Parliament Condemns Iran\u2019s Brutal Repression of Nationwide Protests<\/h3>\n
The European Parliament on 22 January 2026 adopted a sweeping resolution condemning what lawmakers described as the \u201cbrutal repression and mass killings\u201d by Iranian authorities against nationwide protests<\/a>. The resolution passed with an overwhelming majority, with 562 votes in favour, only 9 against, and 57 abstentions, reflecting deep concern in Europe over the violent crackdown.<\/p>\n
Observers highlighted that the resolution was adopted with an overwhelming majority, underlining broad political support within the European Parliament for the Iranian people\u2019s nationwide protests and for urgent, concrete action by EU institutions against Tehran\u2019s repression.<\/p>\n
