In the 110th week<\/a> of the \u00a0\u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>\u201d campaign, political prisoners across Iran launched a coordinated hunger strike on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in 56 prisons nationwide. The campaigners renewed their call for an end to executions and demanded urgent international action against the ruling regime\u2019s escalating wave of death sentences.<\/p>\n

While expressing solidarity with the Iranian people amid ongoing war conditions imposed by the regime, the prisoners reaffirmed their commitment to democratic change and the overthrow of the Velayat-e Faqih system.<\/p>\n

Hunger Strike in 56 Prisons Amid Escalating Executions<\/h2>\n

Participants in the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d initiative warned that the regime\u2019s execution machine continues to operate at full speed. According to the campaign\u2019s statement, more than 65 prisoners have been executed since February 20, during the Persian month of Esfand.<\/p>\n

The hunger strike on March 3 spanned 56 detention centers, including Evin Prison<\/span><\/span>, Qezel Hesar Prison<\/span><\/span>, Greater Tehran Prison<\/span><\/span>, Adelabad Prison<\/span><\/span>, and Vakilabad Prison<\/span><\/span>, alongside dozens of other facilities across the country.<\/p>\n

The coordinated action underscores the growing unrest within Iran\u2019s prison system, where political detainees and ordinary inmates alike face mounting repression.<\/p>\n

New Death Sentences Target Uprising Detainees<\/h2>\n

The campaign highlighted several recent death sentences issued against detainees from past uprisings.<\/p>\n

Among them is Mohammad Reza Majidi Asl<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, who was sentenced to death in Tehran on charges of \u201cMoharebeh\u201d (enmity against God) for his alleged role in the January uprising.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the death sentence of political prisoner Peyman Farah-Avar<\/span><\/span>, held in Lakan Prison<\/span><\/span>, has been upheld for the second time by the regime\u2019s Supreme Court, placing him at imminent risk of execution.<\/p>\n

The campaign warned that many other detainees are currently under torture and severe pressure, facing the threat of death sentences or lengthy prison terms following unfair trials.<\/p>\n

Prisoners: End of Velayat-e Faqih Is Gateway to Democracy<\/h2>\n

In their week 110 statement, campaign members described the death of Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei<\/a>\u00a0as \u201cthe beginning of the end\u201d for the Velayat-e Faqih regime, which they hold responsible for the execution and massacre of tens of thousands of Iranians over the past decades.<\/p>\n

Despite the harsh wartime conditions imposed by the authorities, the prisoners stressed that they stand alongside the Iranian people and share in their suffering.<\/p>\n

They expressed confidence that Iran is moving irreversibly toward a democratic future and emphasized that freedom will be achieved through the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people\u2014not through foreign intervention.<\/p>\n

Call for UN Security Council Action<\/h2>\n

The \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign once again called on international bodies and human rights organizations to take immediate action regarding the plight of political prisoners sentenced to death.<\/p>\n

The prisoners demanded the referral of the regime\u2019s record of executions and human rights violations to the United Nations Security Council, urging the global community to hold Iranian authorities accountable for what they described as systematic crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n
