Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a><\/span><\/span>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/span><\/span> (NCRI<\/a>), delivered a strong message<\/a> to thousands of Iranian demonstrators gathered in Brussels<\/span><\/span> on March 19, 2026, coinciding with a European Union leaders\u2019 summit.<\/p>\n
In her address, Mrs. Rajavi<\/a> emphasized the Iranian people\u2019s demand for \u201cpeace and freedom\u201d and firmly rejected both the current clerical establishment and any return to monarchy. She called on European leaders to abandon decades of appeasement toward Tehran and instead recognize the Iranian people\u2019s right to overthrow the ruling system and establish a democratic republic.<\/p>\n
A central theme of her message was the NCRI<\/a>\u2019s proposal for a provisional government<\/a> aimed at transferring sovereignty to the people of Iran, based on a democratic framework outlined in its Ten-Point Plan. Rajavi also urged the EU to take concrete measures, including closing Iranian regime embassies in Europe, expelling operatives linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and pressuring Tehran to release political prisoners.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the regime\u2019s escalating repression and regional actions, Mrs. Rajavi warned that continued inaction would embolden its pursuit of nuclear weapons, domestic crackdowns, and destabilizing activities in the Middle East. She reiterated that the only viable solution lies in change led by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.<\/p>\n
Referring to ongoing protests and resistance activities inside Iran, Mrs. Rajavi said the ruling authorities increasingly fear popular uprisings and organized opposition forces. She pointed to the unity among Iran\u2019s diverse ethnic communities as a driving force behind a democratic transformation.<\/p>\n
