In a message<\/a> to a demonstration by Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Washington, D.C. on May 16, Mrs.\u00a0 Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, President-elect of the NCRI<\/a>\u00a0said lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through the overthrow of the \u201cVelayat-e Faqih dictatorship.\u201d Addressing compatriots, international guests, and supporters of the Resistance, she described the rally as a message of solidarity with the Iranian people\u2019s struggle against religious fascism and a call for international recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a> as the democratic alternative to the current regime.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"irai95\" data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"870\">Mrs. Rajavi: Clerical Regime Faces a Deepening Crisis<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"872\" data-end=\"1205\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/maryam-rajavi\/\" rel=\"\">Mrs. Rajavi <\/a>said the Iranian regime is trapped in a political and social impasse and can neither return to conditions before the uprisings and massacres of January 2026 nor find a path forward. According to her message, the authorities have intensified repression through arrests, internet shutdowns, street searches, and executions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1207\" data-end=\"1620\">She stated that eight members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-the-peoples-mojahedin-organization-of-iran-pmoi-mek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PMOI\/MEK<\/a> and seventeen protesters had been executed, but argued that these actions would not stop a new uprising. Mrs. Rajavi also referred to what she described as an assault by 250 MEK freedom fighters on Khamenei\u2019s headquarters shortly before the forty-day war, saying the operation inspired a new generation to join the resistance and move toward the \u201cArmy of Liberation.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"qfbmza\" data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1680\">Resistance Units Continue Operations Despite Repression<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1919\">Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that Resistance Units continue daily activities despite wartime conditions and severe repression. She said the regime\u2019s executions are intended to intimidate younger generations but claimed the strategy has failed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1921\" data-end=\"2112\">She highlighted the words of PMOI member Vahid BaniAmerian before his execution, quoting him as saying that executions would only strengthen the movement and accelerate the regime\u2019s downfall.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"13cupf1\" data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2143\">\u201cThe Only Path to Freedom\u201d<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2145\" data-end=\"2335\">In her remarks, Mrs. Rajavi described slain MEK members and protesters as the vanguard of victory and said their political vision rejects both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/society\/who-was-mohammad-reza-pahlavi-shah-irans-last-pahlavi-dictator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shah<\/a> and the ruling clerical establishment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2337\" data-end=\"2683\">She reiterated a statement attributed to <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Massoud Rajavi<\/span><\/span> that \u201cThe Army of Liberation is the only way to freedom.\u201d Mrs. Rajavi also recounted an anthem sung by a six-member MEK unit in Ghezel Hesar prison before execution, portraying it as a symbol of resilience, defiance, and continued resistance among the Iranian people.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2685\" data-end=\"2929\">According to Mrs. Rajavi, the Iranian population has not surrendered despite the deaths and repression following the January uprising. She said the Resistance Units represent organized forces prepared for future uprisings inside Iranian cities.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"jt7os4\" data-start=\"2931\" data-end=\"2991\">Rejection of Both Religious and Monarchical Dictatorships<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2993\" data-end=\"3159\">Mrs. Rajavi warned against what she described as threats from both supporters of appeasement toward the current regime and remnants of the former Shah\u2019s dictatorship.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3161\" data-end=\"3473\">She criticized monarchist groups for opposing the aspirations of Kurdish, Baluchi, Turkmen, and Arab communities and accused them of seeking authoritarian rule and martial law. Referring to comments attributed to members of the British House of Commons, she described such groups as \u201cwolves in sheep\u2019s clothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3475\" data-end=\"3665\">Mrs. Rajavi declared that Iran would neither remain under religious dictatorship nor return to monarchy, insisting that the country\u2019s future lies in a democratic revolution based on freedom.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The struggle of the Iranian people against religious tyranny is being targeted by betrayal and daggers from two sides. Mrs. Rajavi called on all political forces seeking the regime\u2019s overthrow to unite behind the establishment of a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4293\" data-end=\"4568\">She also urged the international community to support the Iranian people\u2019s struggle, expel agents of the Iranian regime from foreign countries, provide tools for unrestricted internet access inside Iran, and prosecute Iranian leaders for crimes against humanity and genocide.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4570\" data-end=\"4699\">Mrs. Rajavi further stressed that ending executions must become a mandatory condition in any international agreement with Tehran.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"4ozb1d\" data-start=\"4701\" data-end=\"4728\">Vision for Iran\u2019s Future<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4730\" data-end=\"4964\">Concluding her message, Mrs. Rajavi said the Iranian people are moving toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/plan-for-future-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a future<\/a> based on pluralism, elections, autonomy for ethnic nationalities, equal participation of women in leadership, and separation of religion and state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4966\" data-end=\"5121\">She described the struggle for freedom and national sovereignty as
