Prisoners Across Iran Continue Hunger Strike Against Executions<\/h3>\n

Political and ideological prisoners participating in the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign launched their 125th consecutive week<\/a> of protest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, by holding hunger strikes in 56 prisons across Iran.<\/p>\n

The nationwide action comes amid a growing wave of executions and increasing concerns over the lives of political prisoners facing death sentences. The campaign says that Iranian authorities have executed more than 177 prisoners since the beginning of the Iranian year 1405 (March 21, 2026).<\/p>\n

Death Sentences of Political Prisoners Raise Alarm<\/h3>\n

In its latest statement, the \u201c<\/span>No to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>\u201d<\/span> campaign warned that the Iranian judiciary continues to issue and implement death sentences as a tool of repression and intimidation.<\/p>\n

The campaign highlighted the cases of political prisoners Ali Fattah and Mohammad Naghizadeh, whose death sentences have reportedly been confirmed by the Supreme Court. Both prisoners have been transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison, increasing fears that their executions could be carried out soon.<\/p>\n

The campaign also expressed concern over the transfer of political prisoners Ali Kamali and Peyman Ganji from Greater Tehran Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison.<\/p>\n

Peyman Ganji, a 23-year-old prisoner arrested during the January 2026 uprising, was sentenced to death by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.<\/p>\n

Ghezel Hesar Prison Remains a Major Execution Site<\/h3>\n

The campaign stated that Ghezel Hesar Prison is one of the main centers for carrying out executions in Tehran Province and houses many prisoners sentenced to death.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, transferring prisoners on death row to this prison places their lives at immediate risk.<\/p>\n

The campaign also referred to warnings by Amnesty International<\/span><\/span> regarding the imminent execution risks facing five prisoners, including Alireza Mardasi, Masoud Jamei, Reza Abdali, Farshad Etemadifar, and Hassan Maslawi.<\/p>\n

Call for International Action to Stop Executions<\/h3>\n

The members of the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign called on human rights activists, civil society organizations, labor groups, and all supporters of human dignity to oppose executions and demand an immediate halt to death sentences.<\/p>\n

The campaign emphasized that protecting the right to life is essential for achieving freedom, equality, and human dignity.<\/p>\n

It called for solidarity and collective action to end executions in Iran and break what it described as a cycle of state-sanctioned deprivation of life.<\/p>\n

Hunger Strike Held in 56 Prisons Across Iran<\/h3>\n

In its 125th week, the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign held coordinated hunger strikes in 56 prisons across Iran, including:<\/p>\n

Evin Prison (women\u2019s and men\u2019s wards), Ghezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison in Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison in Varamin, Choobindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, Zahedan Prison, Mashhad Prison, Rasht Prison, Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, Urmia Prison, Tabriz Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Ilam Prison, and dozens of other prisons throughout the country.<\/p>\n

The \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign continues its weekly protest demanding an immediate end to executions and the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.<\/p>\n
