British MP Bob Blackman reaffirmed his support for the Iranian people\u2019s campaign for democratic change during the second day of the Free Iran 2026 World Summit<\/a>. Addressing an international audience, the Chairman of the British Committee for Iran Freedom argued that the ruling clerical establishment has reached a critical turning point after failing to suppress nationwide protests that continued throughout 2025 and into 2026.<\/p>\n

Blackman dismissed the idea of restoring the monarchy, criticizing Reza Pahlavi for not denouncing the former Shah\u2019s authoritarian rule and for asserting that he enjoys backing from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC<\/a>). He stressed that Iran\u2019s future cannot be determined through hereditary claims to power but must emerge from an organized popular movement committed to establishing a secular, democratic republic.<\/p>\n

Pointing to what he described as a credible democratic alternative, Blackman expressed support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) and Maryam Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan, which proposes transferring political authority to the Iranian people through free and fair elections. He noted that more than 3,000 lawmakers and former national leaders from 55 countries have publicly endorsed this vision for Iran\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

The British MP also announced that the UK has adopted legislation creating the legal framework to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization and freeze its assets. He described the measure as a significant step toward increasing pressure on the Iranian regime and called on the international community to support the NCRI in advancing a peaceful, democratic transition that would promote long-term stability and freedom.<\/p>\n
