Speaking at the Free Iran 2026 World Summit<\/a> in Paris on June 21, Iranian jurist, founder of the podcast L\u2019Iran D\u00e9crypt\u00e9<\/em>, and member of the Committee for the Support of Human Rights in Iran (CSDHI) Mahan Taraj reflected on the lasting struggle for democracy and human rights in Iran.<\/p>\n

Taraj described her personal connection to Iran\u2019s political struggle, recalling that her life began amid the events following the June 20, 1981 massacre, when her parents were forced to flee the country while she was still unborn. She said her journey from a child of exile to an advocate for the Iranian Resistance was shaped not only by family history but also by years of personal research and analysis.<\/p>\n

Drawing on her legal background, Taraj explained that her support for the Resistance developed through examining its principles, including human rights, gender equality, the separation of religion and state, and the rule of law. She said many members of her generation, despite growing up in democratic societies abroad, remain deeply connected to Iran\u2019s pursuit of freedom and democratic change.<\/p>\n

Taraj also paid tribute to those continuing the struggle inside Iran, emphasizing the courage of activists and Resistance Units facing repression. Referring to sacrifices made by figures such as Vahid Bani-Amerian, she argued that executions and intimidation have failed to silence calls for change.<\/p>\n

Concluding her remarks, Taraj described the movement as a shared struggle linking Iranian communities abroad with those inside the country. She said the sacrifices of previous generations continue to inspire a broader movement seeking a democratic and secular future for Iran.<\/p>\n
