Italian Senator Giulio Terzi Labels Iranian Regime a \u201cTerrorist State,\u201d Backs Maryam Rajavi\u2019s Movement in Rome \u2013 July 17, 2026<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Rome, July 17, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 Senator Giulio Terzi, President of the Italian Senate\u2019s EU Affairs Committee, delivered a forceful address at the international conference<\/a> \u201cIran Beyond War, the Power of the People,\u201d rejecting both the current theocratic regime and any return to the pre-1979 monarchy while expressing strong support for the democratic alternative led by NCRI<\/a>\u00a0President-elect Maryam Rajavi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Terzi described the 1979 Khomeinist takeover as the \u201codious advent of a nazi-islamist regime\u201d that brought only death and extermination with the brutality of Hitler.<\/p>\n

He challenged claims by some that parts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC<\/a>) could negotiate a transition with monarchist elements, asking: \u201cAre you aware that the IRGC is on the terrorist list of the European Union, of the major Western countries and of the international community?<\/p>\n

They are under sanctions and all their activities are under sanctions from a large part of the world? How do you reconcile this fact with proposing a regime that includes a component already sanctioned by the international community?\u201d<\/p>\n

He stressed that \u201cThe IRGC is the Iranian state, and the Iranian state is the IRGC,\u201d noting its 210,000 to 220,000 personnel embedded in banking and production.\u00a0 Welcoming the February 2026 EU decision to list the IRGC as a terrorist organization, Terzi called for its full implementation. Recalling the\u00a01988 massacre<\/a> of 30,000 political prisoners, the murders of Kazem Rajavi and Mohammad Hossein Naqdi, the Villepinte plot, and the attack on Alejo Vidal-Quadras, he declared: \u201cEnough! It is time to say enough with the yeses, the buts and the obscuring of the truth.<\/p>\n
