Copenhagen rally and photo exhibition commemorate Iran\u2019s 1988 massacre and call for justice and freedom.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Copenhagen, Denmark \u2013 August 12, 2026 \u2013<\/strong> Supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) held a rally and photo exhibition in Copenhagen to commemorate the anniversary of the **1988 massacre of political prisoners<\/a> in Iran<\/strong>.<\/p>\n**
The event called for justice for those killed during the 1988 massacre and for all victims who have lost their lives in the Iranian people\u2019s struggle for freedom. Participants also stressed the importance of preserving the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in pursuit of freedom and human rights.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Remembering the 1988 Massacre and Ongoing Human Rights Abuses<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The event highlighted what organizers described as the Iranian regime\u2019s continuing human rights violations while commemorating one of the darkest chapters in Iran\u2019s modern history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Participants honored the victims of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>, during which more than 30,000 political prisoners\u2014many of them supporters or members of the PMOI\u2014were reportedly executed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The event also drew attention to the Iranian regime\u2019s violent suppression of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/pmoi-more-than-3000-dead-in-irans-nationwide-uprising-as-of-january-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 2026 nationwide uprising<\/a>. According to figures released by the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" rel=\"\">PMOI<\/a>, thousands of protesters were reportedly killed during the crackdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Former Danish Member of Parliament <strong>Karin Liltorp<\/strong> attended the exhibition and visited the displays. In her remarks, she stressed the importance of maintaining international attention on developments in Iran. Referring to the exhibition, she noted that more than 30,000 political prisoners were executed in Iran in 1988 and pointed out that executions continue to take place in the country on a daily basis. She expressed hope that these executions would come to an end and emphasized that the international community should not forget the people of Iran.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89357\" class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Speakers and participants emphasized that, despite decades of repression and executions, the Iranian people and their organized Resistance continue to seek freedom, democracy, and accountability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">They also highlighted the activities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/iranian-resistance-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resistance Units<\/a> inside Iran and reaffirmed their rejection of both the former monarchy and the current clerical regime.<\/p>\n<p>The Copenhagen event served as a reminder of the
