Participants in Gothenburg pay tribute to the martyrs of Iran\u2019s 1988 massacre and those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and democracy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Gothenburg, Sweden \u2013 August 8, 2026:<\/strong> Supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) gathered in Gothenburg to commemorate the anniversary of the **1988 massacre<\/a><\/strong> of political prisoners in Iran.<\/p>\n**
The event called for justice for those killed during the 1988 massacre and for all victims who lost their lives in the Iranian people\u2019s struggle for freedom. Participants also stressed the importance of preserving the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of freedom and human rights.<\/p>\n

According to figures released by the PMOI, thousands of protesters were reportedly killed during the crackdown.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Gothenburg Event Honors Martyrs of Iran\u2019s 1988 Massacre Democracy, and Accountability<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Speakers and participants stressed that, despite decades of repression and executions, the Iranian people and their organized Resistance continue to seek freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>They highlighted the activities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/iranian-resistance-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resistance Units<\/a> inside Iran and reaffirmed their rejection of both the former <a class=\"reset interactable cursor-pointer decoration-1 underline-offset-1 text-super hover:underline font-semibold\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/society\/who-was-mohammad-reza-pahlavi-shah-irans-last-pahlavi-dictator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span class=\"text-box-trim-both\">monarchy<\/span><\/a> and the current clerical regime.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-89450\"
