The Truckers\u2019 nationwide strike<\/a> was launched for the fifth round on Saturday, Dec. 22, in numerous cities in Iran. This pre-organized strike; scheduled for 10 days, will be continued until December 31. In many cities, most of the loading stations have become empty and the truck drivers have not shown up for new deliveries. The loading terminals in Isfahan, Bandar Abbas (South), Khomeini Shahr (Isfahan Province) and Zanjan (north-west of Tehran) are among the locations that are closed down. Tabriz and many more cities are currently on strike and other cities are expected to join the strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truckers\nare protesting against deteriorating work conditions, low paychecks, decreasing\nwages, high prices for spare parts, unfair policies of governmental institutions\nand not receiving any responses to their demands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Video\nfootages from various cities show the truckers lining up their vehicles along\nthe streets and refusing to load or move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In cities\nsuch as Sabzevar (NW), Malayer (W), and Nahavand City, protesting drivers were\nseen standing on the road and blocking the loaded trucks passing by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to\neyewitness reports, truck commutes are halted in many of the country\u2019s\nhighways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the\ntruckers\u2019 nationwide strikes have the potential\nof a crippling the regime\u2019s ailing economy<\/a> still, the authorities\nhave failed to meet the just demands of the Iranian truckers to prevent the\nstrikes. The truckers like many other strata of the nation are finding it\nharder to make ends meet on daily basis. The Iranian regime\u2019s corruption and\nmismanagement of the economy have affected the lives of Iranians of all walks\nof life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the\nbeginning of 2018, we have witnessed five rounds of the truckers\u2019 nationwide\nstrikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first\nround of truckers\u2019 nationwide strikes began in last May and quickly spread to\nmore than three hundred cities across the country. That round of the strike\nended on June 8, after promises made by Iranian authorities. But, these were\nonly hollow promises which paved the way for the second round of truckers\u2019\nnationwide strikes in summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second\nround of the truckers\u2019 nationwide strikes started on July 23 and swiftly turned\ninto popular demonstrations in Isfahan\u2019s Shapur City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third\nround of the truckers\u2019 nationwide strikes, which was launched on August 25, was\nvery characteristic in making strong links with other strata and enjoyed vast support\nfrom people across Iran<\/a>. The drivers carried out demonstrations in\nfront of governors\u2019 offices in some provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September\n23 we witnessed the fourth round of the truckers\u2019\nnationwide strikes<\/a> sweeping more than 200 cities across Iran in five\ndays. It quickly gained national support. Despite the official\u2019s efforts to\ndivert the public attention from the strikes into simultaneous political\ndevelopments, the truck\ndrivers succeeded to keep the strike alive<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After four\nrounds of strikes, the truckers are now more organized and experienced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newest\nround of the truckers\u2019 nationwide strikes began while many drivers had stopped\nworking in previous days and were practically on strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
