The corrupt and repressive regime in Iran continues to rely on arbitrary executions and systematic repression to suppress public uprisings and protests. In just the first four days of the month of Tir (June 21–24), at least 17 prisoners, including one woman, were executed. Since the beginning of the Persian year 1404 (March 20, 2025), at least 424 individuals have been hanged. Last week alone, 18 people were executed — a horrifying figure that is unprecedented in recent years.
In such a climate, the lives of political prisoners sentenced to death are increasingly at risk. We, the members of this campaign, along with the people of Iran, demand the abolition of the death penalty and the unconditional release of all political and ideological prisoners.
The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign calls on the international community, human rights organizations, and people of conscience to be the voice of those on death row. It must be remembered that this regime not only failed to provide safety for prisoners during wartime and bombing campaigns, but even now — in the absence of war — it continues to retaliate against the people and the imprisoned. We also call on the families of prisoners, especially those whose loved ones have been recently arrested, not to remain silent: publish their names and demand their immediate and unconditional release.
It should be noted that, due to the closure of Evin Prison and the transfer of its inmates to Greater Tehran Prison and Qarchak Prison, Qarchak Prison will henceforth replace Evin on the campaign’s list of participating prisons.
