Iran’s 90th “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Expands to 52 Prisons Nationwide

Iran, October 14, 2025 – 90th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign

Nationwide Protest Against Executions

On October 14, 2025, prisoners in 52 prisons across Iran marked the 90th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.
This week’s statement coincided with the World Day Against the Death Penalty. Prisoners thanked all those who support their call:
“No to execution — for anyone!”

Harsh Conditions for Female Prisoners

The statement described the poor treatment of women in Qarchak and Evin prisons.
Several women were transferred after the killing of Somayeh Rashidi, yet they now face cold cells and no basic needs.
Hundreds of women, including many on death row, are still in Qarchak. Prisoners demand that the prison be closed and those responsible be punished.

Political Prisoners Face Death Sentences

Prisoners condemned the death sentence of Ehsan Faridi, a student held in Tabriz Prison.
They also reported new death sentences for Nasimeh Eslamzehi, Arsalan Sheikhi, and Amanj Karavanchi.
The campaign says these rulings aim to spread fear and silence dissent.

 Protests in Qezel Hesar Prison

In Qezel Hesar Prison, more than 1,500 prisoners on death row began a sit-in after several inmates were sent for execution.
They refused food and demanded the return of their cellmates.
The protesters chanted anti-execution slogans, echoing the campaign’s message and the World Day Against the Death Penalty.

Executions Rising Rapidly

Reports say that 162 people were executed in just 20 days of October 2025.
In the first half of the Iranian year, more than 1,000 executions have taken place.
The statement calls on the international community to act quickly to stop this growing tragedy.

52 Prisons Join the 90th Week

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign reached 52 prisons, including Evin, Qarchak, Qezel Hesar, Adelabad, Sheiban, and Urmia.
Prisoners across Iran continue to raise their voices for justice and humanity, calling for an end to all executions.
