Commemoration of Dr. Kazem Rajavi and Calls for Justice
Geneva, Switzerland – April 24, 2026: Supporters of the Iranian Resistance gathered at Nations Square outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva to commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Kazem Rajavi.
Freedom-loving Iranians paid tribute to Professor Rajavi, a distinguished advocate for human rights and a symbol of resistance against tyranny. They called for the prosecution of those responsible for ordering and carrying out his assassination and demanded that they be brought to justice for crimes against humanity and genocide.
Dr. Kazem Rajavi, the NCRI’s representative in Switzerland, was assassinated near Geneva in 1990 on orders from the Iranian regime—less than two years after the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran, most of them MEK members and supporters.
Calls for Accountability and Support for Democratic Change in Iran
Participants condemned the Iranian regime’s systemic human rights abuses, with particular emphasis on the execution of political prisoners affiliated with the PMOI as well as protesters arrested during the January 2026 uprising.
They urged the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and member states to refer these crimes to the UN Security Council and to establish an international tribunal to hold the regime’s leaders accountable for crimes against humanity.
The rally also emphasized the Iranian people’s demand for a democratic republic, firmly rejecting both the current theocratic regime and any return to monarchy. Protesters voiced support for the democratic alternative proposed by the NCRI and the Resistance Units inside Iran, which are fighting for freedom and justice.
