BCFIF: UK Must Reassess Its Iran Policy After Terror Plot, as Iranian Resistance Calls for Closure of Regime Missions

The British Committee for Iran Freedom has called on the UK Government to reassess its policy toward Iran following reports that Iran played a role in a suspected terrorist plot near RAF Fairford.

Earlier this year, the UK joined 23 other governments in condemning what they described as “lethal plotting and other malign actions” by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Quds Force, and Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security in Europe, North America, and Australia. British security services and international partners have repeatedly warned about plots involving Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, acting directly, through proxies, or in cooperation with criminal networks.

“It is time to reassess our policy towards Iran,” the statement said.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said that the role of Iran’s “terrorist religious dictatorship” in the recent terrorist plot in England showed that, as long as the regime remains in power, it will not abandon repression, its program to acquire nuclear weapons, or the export of terrorism and the fomenting of war.

Mrs. Rajavi said that, by exploiting a policy of appeasement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security had expanded their terrorist networks across Europe with the help of Iran’s embassies and other official and unofficial missions.

She called for the closure of Iran’s embassies and official and unofficial missions, as well as the expulsion of the regime’s mercenaries, Ministry of Intelligence and Security operatives, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel.

Mrs. Rajavi said the ultimate solution was the overthrow of the regime, which, she stated, could be achieved only through popular uprisings and organized resistance.
