Excerpts of the speeches of the United States Senators, John Boozman From Arkansas and Maggie Hassan From New Hampshire, at the Free Iran 2022 are as follows:
Senator John Boozman From Arkansas
Dear friends, thank you very much for asking me to speak at this event. As you know, I support the efforts of the Iranian people to bring change and democracy to their country.
I am disturbed by the ongoing human rights violations in Iran, and I support the Iranian people in their pursuit for peace.
The US remains committed to democracy, human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law and supports the Iranian people in their calls for a democratic government that respects these rights and freedoms. I also remain committed to preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapons program.
Yours is a noble cause, and it is very important that we continue the dialogue on this matter. I hope it is a productive gathering and I wish you all the best of luck. Sincerely, John Boozman.
Senator Maggie Hassan From New Hampshire
Hello. I’m United States Senator Maggie Hassan from New Hampshire. The regime in Tehran must be held accountable for their repeated human rights violations, including the oppression of women, ethnic minorities, human rights advocates and journalists.
And it’s particularly important to hold the regime in Tehran accountable for its state’s sponsored support of terrorist organizations. My support for the Iranian people remains unwavering.
The United States must continue to advance an American foreign policy that protects human rights, supports democracies and allows citizens to live free from persecution, as shown by the bipartisan support at this conference. Democrats and Republicans join in solidarity with all of you.
I’m proud to call myself an ally and a friend in this fight for freedom. And I look forward to continuing to work with you all as we seek a better future for the Iranian people. Thank you again and enjoy the convention.
